||Heartwood color is red brown to pinkish brown. Sapwood is pinkish grey to whitish and clearly demarcated. The silver figure is fine with ripple marks. Grains are systematically interlocked. Texture is fine to medium.
||Easy with hand and machine tools, slicing and peeling is easy with treated wood. Tools must be cautiously sharped. TCT cutters are recommended.
||Polishing gives better result. Melamine, UV and PU coating is recommended.
|Drying & treatment
||Drying time is moderate. Chemical treatment is difficult.

||Quarter cut Sapele is reported to yield a ribbon, regular stripe or bee’s ring. Other cuts feature various desirable patterns including fiddle backs, roe or a mottled design. Specially a wood containing wavy grain.
